2.2 Temporal integration

The SimClimat model calculates the different variables (temperature, $CO_{2}$ concentration ...) as a function of time $t$ during the duration $D$ of the simulation, starting from the initial state. The different times $t$ where the calculations are made are separated by a time step $dt$. To limit the calculation time, the time step depends on the duration of the simulation:

• if $Dleq100$ years, $dt$=0.25 years
• if $D>100$ years, $dt=(D^{0.7})cdot100^{0.3}/300$. For example, $dtsimeq210$ years for $D=1$ million years, and $dtsimeq5283$ years pour $D=100$ million years.
