Tracers

The input file describing tracers may be in two formats: old and new. The name of the file may be tracer.def or traceur.def.

If the name of the file is tracer.def then it should be in the new format:

  • Number identifying the advection scheme, possibly different for horizontal (hadv) and vertical advection (vadv)
  • Possible: tracer of tracer, useful for isotopes
  • For more information on available advection schemes: dyn3d_common/infotrac.f90
  • See presentation on dynamics by E. Millour.

Here is an example of a file tracer.def:

&version=1.0
&lmdz
default hadv=10 vadv=10 phases=g parent=air type=tracer
H2O hadv=14 vadv=14
H2O phases=ls
Aga

(4 tracers in this example). The general syntax for the file tracer.def is:

&version=<number>
&<section name>
default <key>=<val> ...
<tracer name> <key>=<val>
...

If the name of the file is traceur.def then it should be in the old format:

  • First line: number of tracers
  • Then one line per tracer, with a number identifying the advection scheme

Here is an example of a file traceur.def:

4
14 14 H2Ov
10 10 H2Ol
10 10 H2Oi
10 10 Aga

The syntax for the second and following lines is:

<hadv> <vadv> <name> [<parent name>]
