Accepted to proceed

With a view to raising awareness and ensuring transparency in order to promote a fair and inclusive research community, and in line with the CNRS’s stated commitment to combating inequalities—particularly gender inequalities—in the recruitment and evaluation of researchers, the committee wished to report, at the conclusion of the first phase, on the low proportion of female applicants observed in the 2026 competition: 14% of applications accepted to compete (16 women, 99 men), 18% of applications accepted to proceed (5 women, 23 men). The committee emphasises that the low proportion of female applicants accepted to proceed is a direct consequence of the low proportion of female applicants, and in no way reflects a difference in the quality of male and female applications. The committee reaffirms its commitment to an evaluation process that is mindful of gender parity and equality, diversity and inclusion, from an intersectional perspective [see the criteria and evaluation process page]. It is committed to continuing its efforts to raise awareness and ensure transparency throughout its term of office, in the hope of seeing an increase in the proportion of female applicants in future rounds.
